Frequently Asked Questions About My Sober Girlfriends Membership

If you have a question that isn’t answered here, feel free to email Naomi at naomi@mysobergirlfriends.com!

  • After your first 30 days sober, if you are walking your sober path and want to be supported and inspired by a community doing the same, we’d love to have you join us!

The first 30 days of living without alcohol and substances is a delicate time as there is a lot going on with your beautiful brain.

If you are looking for support in getting your first 30 days, this could be the perfect time for a recovery group like SMART Recovery, This Naked Mind, Recovery Dharma, or even a sobriety coach. (Yes, there is such a thing!)

  • Heck yeah! We absolutely welcome women who are in early sobriety!

If you are in early sobriety and your main need is to be able to delve deeply into your past, I recommend joining a recovery group or seeing a therapist as an additional resource. Naomi is a credentialed life coach and authentic relating facilitator, not a therapist or sobriety coach.

We are a great addition to your sobriety toolbox!

  • Do you identify as a woman, or non-binary but you used to identify as a woman? We use the term“woman” to apply to anyone who identifies as a woman (or woman/nonbinary), regardless of gender assigned at birth.

  • We attract the such lovely people!

Our community is made up of women who are no longer able to tolerate the feeling of being out of alignment with their true potential. Alcohol and other drugs made them feel disconnected from their true selves.

So now, they are looking for a group with sober, growth-oriented women for support and inspiration.

You might meet a scientist, writer, realtor, principal, yoga therapist, graduate student, marketing professional, artist, and more.

For enjoyment, they: screen print, do needlepoint, garden, train dogs, roller skate, ride bikes, lift weights, sing, go hiking, run, read, write books, cook, meditate, dance, do yoga, make collages, volunteer…. sobriety is full of opportunities!

  • Most of our members live in Portland and the surrounding area. We may be expanding a little further out, so stay tuned!

Our connection happens both in-person and online.

  • Let me put it this way: Members have ASKED me if they could please help welcome in new people.

They LOVE it when new folks join! They want you to join!

  • First, know that whatever you choose to do with your life is okay.

However, we aren't just about being alcohol-free, it's about living a fully present life.

Some women who join the community are professionals who also had problems with weed and weed addiction, including the founder.

    So we aren't a THC-friendly space.

  • Yes, harm reduction is an important step for some people.

Just because this particular group is for folks who have ended their relationship with alcohol, all kinds of drugs, including marijuana, it doesn't mean that we are anti-harm reduction.

This is one of the few places for those of us that have been recovering from marijuana addiction.

  • I know, right? What in the heck do we do???

It's a whole variety of things! We've had gatherings that range from a potluck/ waterfall wander/sharing circle event to a book swap to a member-led pool party with water aerobics.

We incorporate a full-spectrum sober lifestyle into our gatherings.

Some of them include facilitated sharing on deeper topics like self-love, self-awareness and relating games.

Sometimes we are going out in the world, like meeting for coffee, interviewing another member, and attending the PSU Farmer's Market with a $10 bill to buy the person you interviewed a gift that you present to them over lunch.

A member might invite anyone who wants to meet for a sunrise walk on Mt Tabor to celebrate their first year of sobriety.

There are also online connection calls....

It's all up to our endless well of creativity-- exploring the freedom of a sober lifestyle!

Are you open to trying new things? If so, then you'll love it!

  • I totally understand that in many sober communities, there’s a tradition of offering free services, and I think that’s a beautiful part of the community.

At the same time, I offer a unique, professional service that reflects my training and the effort I put into creating these experiences. This is my job. I price everything as low as I can.

My aim is to create high-quality, accessible experiences while also being compensated for the value I provide.

As women, we've got to trust that we can create valuable professional offerings for each other that are worth the work we put into them. And also believe that we are worth investing in our personal resiliency and wellbeing.

  • You'll have lots of activities and connection opportunities included.

There will always be optional gatherings that include other costs, because we do get out and interact with the world!

Sometimes there are extra costs if we're attending an outside ticketed event like a performance, a member is offering something that includes supplies, space rental, or attending an outside event, things like that.

  • You can choose a monthly or yearly membership-- (with a yearly membership you get two months free!) and you can cancel at any time.

I recommend the yearly not only because of the price, but then you feel a sense of peace when life things come up and you can't connect with us for a few weeks.

You can cancel anytime, but the price you pay when you join will never go up as long as you continue.

Other than that, there is no commitment to attend a certain number of things, etc.

I will, however, keep encouraging people to get out of their own way and show up!
